Our History

Modern chefs - whether professional or enthusiastic home cooks - are seeking a wider and wider range of the freshest fish.

W.Hodgson was established in the fishing port of Hartlepool in 1916 when it was mainly whiting, haddock, cod and plaice which dominated the slabs.

But times have changed and we've changed with them. Now Tuna, Swordfish, Black Tilapia, Bream and Sea Bass take their place on the display slabs and in our delivery vans.

We have three shops selling the freshest fish and a delivery service to hotels and restaurants which is second to none.

And we have spread our net ever wider to make sure that all of our customers get the fish they want.
